Before the Session
Preparing your child ahead of time helps ensure a relaxed and happy experience.
Rest & Snacks
Toddlers and young children photograph best when they are well rested and not hungry.
I recommend scheduling the session after a nap and a snack so your child arrives happy and full of energy.
A small snack before leaving the house can make a big difference in their mood and cooperation.
What to Wear
Choose outfits that are comfortable and allow your child to move freely. Children naturally play, twirl, sit, and explore during the session.
Some helpful tips:
• Soft, comfortable fabrics
• Neutral or soft colors
• Avoid large logos or busy patterns
• Bring a
backup outfit just in case
If the session has a theme, you can incorporate colors or accessories that complement it while still keeping your child comfortable.
For toddlers, simple outfits often photograph beautifully and keep the focus on their expressions.
Bring a Favorite Item (Optional)
If your child has a favorite toy, stuffed animal, or small comfort item, feel free to bring it along.
These familiar objects can help toddlers feel more relaxed and sometimes become meaningful details in the photos.
Talk About the Session
A great way to prepare toddlers is to talk about the session beforehand.
You might say things like:
"We're going to take fun pictures!"
"You’ll get to play and explore!"
Keeping it positive helps children feel excited rather than nervous.
During the Session
Children sessions are playful and relaxed. My approach is focused on capturing natural expressions rather than stiff poses.
Children are encouraged to:
• explore the space
• move freely
• laugh, play, and interact
Some of the most beautiful photos happen during these natural moments.
As a photographer who works frequently with toddlers and young children, I use gentle guidance and playful interaction to help bring out genuine smiles.
Parents are welcome to participate when needed, whether it’s helping with a laugh, playing peek-a-boo, or offering a quick cuddle.
Toddler Breaks Are Completely Normal
Young children sometimes need a moment to reset, and that’s perfectly okay.
If your child needs a quick break for a sip of water, a cuddle, or a moment to warm up, we simply pause and continue when they are ready.
The goal is always to keep the experience fun and stress-free.
After the Session
After the session, I carefully hand-edit each image to enhance color, light, and detail while keeping the photos natural and timeless.
Your final gallery will be delivered once the editing process is complete, and you will be able to view and select your favorite images.
A Note for Parents
Children do not need to sit perfectly still or smile on command. Some of the most meaningful photographs come from genuine laughter, curiosity, and little in-between moments.
Trust the process and enjoy watching your child explore — I’ll capture the magic along the way.
If you have any questions before the session, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m looking forward to capturing this special milestone for your little one.
Warmly,
Luciana
