Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who are good candidates for mini-sessions?

Mini sessions are perfect for families who would like updated portraits, but don’t have time for a full session or maybe can’t necessarily afford a full custom photography session. These mini sessions are usually booked with the holidays in mind, since prints and canvases are great gifts for family members.
Mini sessions are open to: families, children, maternity, seniors, and couples/engagements.
*excludes extended family
**SESSION FEE INCLUDES UP TO 6 INDIVIDUALS/PETS. ADD $15 PER ADDITIONAL PERSON.

2. Why should I book in advance?

During certain times of the year demand increases for sessions. F Booking your session in advance guarantee that you'll be able to choose the best dates and time.

3. What can I expect at our session?

While I tend to stay away from overly posed “say cheese” type pictures, we will capture some of these. Once that's out of the way, expect a lot of interacting, playing, cuddling, and loving on your kids (and spouse!). My favorite photographs are those where your family is comfortable and naturally expressing emotion. Through various methods I will draw that out of each member of your family. The only thing you are required to do is HAVE FUN.

4. How long will my photoshoot last?

It will last about 15 minutes which makes it easy for little ones and older children with extracurricular activities on the weekends. Please plan to arrive at least 10 min earlier so you have enough time to park the car, find the location etc.

5. Can I choose the date and location for the mini-session?

I am only shooting mini-sessions at selected locations.

6. What should I wear?

I have an entire Pinterest board FULL of style tips and ideas! I LOVE to arm my clients with all the right tools for a successful session! I am also always available for questions, should you still have some! :)

7. How many people are included?

Mini sessions are designated for immediate family members only. If you would like to book a session with extended family get in touch with me to discuss the options available.

8. What is the cancelation policy?

The full payment is required at the time of booking in order to reserve your session. This amount is not refundable if you cancel your session. However, it is transferable to another person or mini session. Please note that rescheduling can only be done no later than 48 hours prior to your session.

9. Can I give or sell my mini-session to someone else?

Yes! You can gift or sell your session if you are unable to attend. There are gift certificates available as well.

15. Can I request a specific photo?

Yes! please let me know in advance so we can plan.

16. How do I print my photos?

Don’t spend money on a professional photography session just to have them sit on your computer. As a professional photographer, I highly recommend to my clients to print their images (or at least their favorite images) with a professional lab (click on the store option in your gallery to see the prints available).

17. Can I share my photos on Facebook, Instagram etc?

I would love for you to share your photos on Facebook! I simply ask for credit when you do. I will be posting a previews on my Facebook page in the days following the fall sessions. You are free to use these images as profile or cover photos, and you can absolutely share them with family and friends by clicking “Share.” However, DO NOT crop the photos or crop my logo out of the image. Also, DO NOT print those images directly from Facebook. They are lower resolution photos used for Facebook only and would look terrible if printed.

18. What is the reschedule policy?

It happens.....a sick kid, a unplanned work trip, huge bruises on faces....life happens and I completely understand that! With that said, if you have to reschedule - notify me immediately. I will make all attempts to reschedule you as quickly as possible. Refer to cancelation policy for more details.

19. What if my kids aren’t behaving or have a meltdown during the shoot?

I’m a mom and I know exactly how these things go. Regardless of how your child is acting, I promise i will try hard get some great shots. I do not expect perfectly still and poised children ;)

20. While meltdowns are sometimes inevitable, here are some tips that will help your kids adjust to the session smoothly:

Make sure your kids are well-rested and healthy the day of the shoot.

Adjust nap times if necessary. If your child is sick, please contact me to reschedule! I totally understand, and sick kids do not like to be photographed.

For outdoor shoots, remember to bring water for your children as well as snacks (preferably ones that aren’t messy) in case they get hungry or irritable.

If you have a young child that has a favorite lovey/stuffed animal or other comfort item, please bring it to the shoot! Not only will it offer security to the child, but I love capturing that special relationship between a child and their beloved object at this point in their lives.

For babies one year and under, please bring a few objects that always capture their interest or make them laugh! This will help them focus on the camera instead of all the exciting stuff around us.

21. How many outfits can I be photographed in for a mini-session?

Because of the nature of a mini-session, you will only be allowed to be photographed in one outfit. If you are looking to have multiple wardrobe changes, please send me a message to book a full session.

22.  A professional hair and makeup included in a mini-session?

In order to keep the cost to a minimum, professional hair and makeup will not be included for mini-sessions; however, you may choose to have your hair/makeup done prior to the mini-session and I would be happy to give you the contact information of the amazing makeup artist that I work with.
