We chose a morning time slot for the session, which turned out to be absolutely perfect—not just for the gorgeous light, but also because the youngest family member, a precious 5-month-old baby , peacefully napped through most of the session in mama’s arms. Tucked away in the heart of Raleigh, the Raleigh Rose Garden is one of my favorite hidden gems for capturing heartfelt family moments. Recently, I had the joy of photographing a beautiful family at this serene spot, and I couldn’t have asked for a better day. The weather was perfect, the light was golden, and the garden was still showing off the last of its colorful blooms.

When Are the Roses in Bloom?

The roses at the Raleigh Rose Garden typically bloom from mid-May through early fall , with peak bloom in late May to mid-June . However, you can often find beautiful blooms lasting into September, depending on the weather and maintenance.

Best Time to Photograph at Raleigh Rose Garden:

Peak bloom: Late May – Mid June
Still blooming: Through July and August
Lingering blooms: Early September

In Raleigh, golden hour times shift throughout the year — in the summer it can be close to 7:30–8:00 PM , while in the fall it may be closer to 5:30–6:00 PM .

The ideal time for a maternity photoshoot is between 28 and 34 weeks . This is when most mamas have a beautifully rounded bump that photographs well, but are still comfortable enough to move and pose.

The Yates Mill is one of the most beautiful parks in the area! Old buildings, a dam with boulders creating a waterfall , large fields , and a wooden bridge across the pond all creates a beautiful rustic vibe backdrop for your portraits! This location is great to photograph year round.

Duke Gardens, Durham

The Duke Gardens are absolutely GORGEOUS! Plants, flowers, pathways, bridges, nature, water fountains, statues, etc. The park requires a permit, a reservation and charges a fee.

Lake Crabtree, Morrisville

What is more beautiful than a sunset by the lake? The lake crabtree is the perfect backdrop for your portraits! It looks nice in all seasons!

Jordan Lake, ApexJordan Lake, Apex

Beach vibe portraits without going to the real beach. This location is great to photograph in the summer.

Bond Park, Cary

Bond Park offers a variety of backdrops for your session. Lake, trails, small beach area, woods. This location is great to photograph year round.

Sears Farm Park, Cary

Sears Farm Park is a a good location for family sessions. Paved trails, woods, trails, unique landscaped areas, open grass field and a giant sculpture. This location is great to photograph year round.

Downtown Cary

In the heart of Cary, the downtown Cary is a charming location for your portrait session that provides a small town urban vibes, There you'll find structures, small buildings, staircases, brick alleys, a gorgeous water fountain. This location is good year round.

North Cary Park

On of my favorite location to photograph in the fall season. The fall foliage and colors are gorgeous there. Open field, paved trail, bridge, woods. This location is good to photograph year round.

Sugg Farm Park, Holly Springs

Sugg Farm provides a farm/rustic vibe for your portrait session. Wide open fields, old farm fencing, high grass and old trees is a great.

Crowder County Park, Apex

Another gorgeous location especially in the Fall Season. The Crowder County Park has gorgeous paved trails, woods, open fields and a pond!

Coker Arboretum, Chapel Hill

Located in the UNC campus, the Coker Arboretum is a small peaceful location for your portrait session. Walking pathways, open fields, benches, flowers.

This location has walking paths, two large ponds connected by a brook, a wildflower garden, lawns, and other beautiful backdrops.

Riverwalk trail, Hillsborough

Beach Themed Photoshoot

I've been photographing this beautiful girl since she was 6 months old, she's one of my fave lil' models.

Her mom loves blue/green tones so the Santa Monica Pier backdrop was more than a perfect fit!

This session was so much fun! we sing, dance, played with bubbles and beach toys, the result was beautiful pictures that her family will cherish forever.

I can't wait to see her again for her 2 years old milestone session (we are already planing) stay tuned!

A Surprise Baby Shower Parade!

This is how we threw the best social distancing babyshower parade for a dear friend during the coronavirus crisis...

A dear friend of mine is expecting a baby girl. We (a group of her friends) wanted to assure she gets an unforgettable celebration, not just an ordinary parade where cars drive by and honk loud.

Since it was a surprise, we made a copy of her baby registry, that way she didn't receive notifications when an item from the list was purchased. Once we had the date/time defined, we sent out the invitations. Her husband was in charge of keeping her busy while we setup the decoration in front of the house.

llama was the theme chosen for this babyshower parade. We placed the presents on top of this giant llama float.

Every baby shower needs a diaper cake! It is a useful gift plus it makes a cute centerpiece. Also, it can be used as part of the baby's nursery decoration for a while.

The safety of your newborns, children, and families are a top priority here!

As we are all adjusting to the "new normal" and while it won't be business as usual, we can still capture beautiful memories of you and your family just by adding extra precautions in place to ensure everyone's safety.

All portrait sessions will be held outdoor until further notice - we'll use a telephoto 70-200mm zoom lens (it will allow us to stay at a safe distance away).

We appreciate all the beautiful families who trust us to capture their memories and please know that we will do the same to protect you and your loved ones as we will do for our own.
